we all hold inner truths. we all have values and ideologies we live by and believe to be true, based on our experiences, lessons, memories and not to forget education. today I want to share with you some of my inner truths. lessons I have learned over time and routines, values I have implemented into my life to ensure I am continuing to grow, to always get better. how can I be better?
every day you wake you and you can influence nothing more than your happiness of today. yesterday will never come back and tomorrow is too far away to be thinking about it. yet there is one thing you can do today and ultimately every day. lay one brick to continue building that wall. in my eyes doing many small things in one day is often more valuable than doing one big thing once a week. for example, if I study a new language for 15 mins every day, go to the gym every morning, take a cold shower daily, keep a consistent skin care routine, go for a walk daily, clean my room daily my life is far more structured and in control than cleaning my room for a whole Saturday or doing a big gym session once a week. today you can’t act upon anything else than the things happening today. I hope you understand my point here. why not make every day count as much as the one before and the one after? it’s not the last brick that builds a wall but it’s all of them. small contributions over time will ultimately lead you to your dream life. we all have that voice in us that tells us what would be the right thing to do. if you cannot hear it, you should take some time – without music and other influences, and just think. listen to yourself. what is your inner gut telling you? sometimes it can be truly painful to admit that we already have the answer inside of us but I guarantee you, releasing yourself of the pain of not listening will bring your life to a totally different level. living in harmony with your most intimate inner feelings, will lead you to ultimate happiness. often we also wait for permission from outside – our family, friends or other people we look up to – but in the end nothing else but your own feeling telling you what to do should influence your decision. you are going to be held accountable for the choices you make, so be responsible and choose your own battle.
but let me get to the point here. first and foremost on my travels but also over the past months I have learned to trust in the universe. everything happens for a reason and once you truly inhale and understand what that means and remember it in the hard times too, you will lead a much easier life. you will worry less and just let life do its thing. these challenges it throws to you weren’t randomly chosen. they are supposed to get you closer to your ideal self. you are right where you are supposed to be. and if you feel that the challenges get harder every time it’s because life knows that you have outgrown your comfort zone. it would never challenge you with anything you are not capable of handling. social media steals your precious time. for me the most important truth is to truly live in the moment. moments make up our lives and it lies in your hand to create beautiful ones. they will not come back. ever. so make ’em memorable. in tight connection with that realisation lies appreciating the little things in life. a smile exchanged with a stranger, a compliment, a flower growing on the sidewalk, a fresh breeze making you feel alive. tightly knit with that is also enjoying nature. us humans, millions of years ago, were born in nature and spent ALL our time there. we used to go inside little to never (ignoring that caves were in nature too) and nowadays it’s almost special to go outside. going for a walk in the woods or breathing truly fresh air outside the city.
I have touched on my next point more than once in this and other posts: you are the only one responsible to make yourself happy. to implement this idea it is deeply important to listen to your gut. you have all the answers inside yourself. you do not need others to tell you what is right for you. you have all the answers inside you!! so make sure you listen. your gut and soul have feelings but listening to your body as a whole and its boundaries is fundamental to leading a healthy life. if your body tells you to stop don’t push it too far. there is a fine line between pushing your mind and body to grow and overdoing it. you will die. sooner or later. but you will. so here I am advising you to truly make every day worth reliving. for me there is no worse feeling than realising how much time has passed without me noticing because I didn’t live properly. while realising you are going to die, you should know that every second of your life you can change what you are doing (I wrote a whole other post on these two: change and make every day worth reliving). if you feel like something’s holding you back, have the power to realise that it’s nothing else but your own mind and (wo)man-made circumstances. you are as free as anybody else. if you see other people shine, that’s often because they have found something that makes them happy and because they have built a strong mindset. they feel inner peace because they trust in something. for me it’s the universe. you can call it whatever you want to or even just believe in yourself to become that better version.
don’t let this amazing and immensely incredible opportunity of seeing the light in this world go to waste because you let yourself be influenced by others.
