sunny dos 🌞

time for another sunny oneee 🙂

My friend Angelique and I went to explore the other side of the crocodile river in Tamagringo. I don’t think I brought my phone but it’s an even deeper core memory. We walked 50 minutes along the endless beach, where only a few surfers dared to takle some great waves. Only after taking a first small break, we noticed the black, thick wall in the sky. A thunderstorm cloud was making its way to us – again. We walked quicker, because other than a jungle filled with crocodiles there wasn’t much cover available and our biggest concern was that our journals could get wet and our memories washed away.

I was tanning topless because there was nobody on the beach and because I wanted to feel even more connected to nature than I already was, walking barefoot. An old, American woman seemed to be very intimidated by that and all I did was smile at her. I found it amusing. Our bodies are something so beautiful that should be embraced and not hated or feared. Pretty hungry and with tired legs we finally reached our destination – a huge rock, that seemed no taller than 1 meter from afar, but in reality was at least 10 meters tall. We just knew we had to climb it. First we explored its ‘roots’ in the water. The rock formations that had been formed over thousands of years by the water gently but restlessly brushing over it. I sat in a hollow and had an intense experience. The cave-like construction muffled every sound around me. I could not even hear the waves rushing to shore at my feet. Rather than hearing what was going on, the walls ‘repelled’ the feeling onto my body. The power of the ocean spread in every inch of my body and I was fully aware of my body touching unimaginably old rocks that had been touched by so many creatures before. Pure freedom made my body feel light.

On top of the rock nature gave us another gift. We were trying to take in the endless horizon of the huge pacific ocean when we heard a screech. We turned to the sky to see an eagle circle us. It pretended to swoop into the deep blue ocean, but slowed down soon enough to circle our rock. We were standing above it, watching it. No 50 centimetres away from us, it was presenting its incredible feather coat to us. It looked so soft and we knew it was a once in a lifetime experience and we took no picture because that is one of the situations when you know you are part of all of it. You are part of the universe and have not little uncommon with that eagle, because you were both born and will both die but right now you are filled with endless freedom.

Then we ate the best tacos in the world. 🌮
