sunny one

Here I am introducing a new feature to my blog. 🌞 Sometimes life gifts us these special moments that ignite a spark inside our hearts and I want to share some of mine in short stories. I will call them sunnies – metaphorically speaking about the suns shining inside every one of us.

Pure connection with nature. After a long day working with the children in Huacas, Costa Rica, my friend Angelique and I had decided to enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. We had just laid down and I was starting to drift off into a nap while listening to my favourite music when she suddenly woke me up. Excitedly she was pointing to the sky. I was so caught up in my dreamy state that only when I followed her finger with my eyes I saw that a huge thunderstorm cloud was making its way to us. And fast. At the time it was May and the rainy season had just begun. The message this cloud carried didn’t quite reach my brain – so I drifted back into my own world. Only when I felt the cold, pretty big heavy drops on my sun-heated body, I started to realise what was happening.

Suddenly el cielo cayó. The raindrops felt like heavy spikes on my tired skin. When I turned around, the people had all run for cover and were waiting for the rain to end. I turned to the endless ocean, looked at the crowd once again, put my AirPods and phone into my shoes and ran. The espuma-covered waves hugged me and I felt the warmth spreading under my skin. Rarely had I felt freedom rushing through my veins that intensely.
